30/03/02 Parscelona 2 PSJ 2

March 30th 2002

St Leonards, Dunfermline

With a blank Saturday, Parscelona welcomed PSJ down the road for a friendly fixture to mark the departure to foreign soil (worse, English soil) of Parscelona veteran Fraser Clark. As an added bonus, it was another game without defeat!

An uneventful first half finished without score, the closest attempt being a stramash inside the Parscelona box as the ball slipped under keeper Ross Bremner before being caught up in the legs of a couple of PSJ strikers.

The players were undoubtedly taking their time getting used to playing on a St Leonards pitch that actually wasn't waterlogged, and more chances were created in the second half.

Parsca had the first couple of decent efforts on goal with Alan Maxwell's left foot drive from the edge of the box forcing a corner and Neil Holland having a fearsome 20-yard effort well held by the PSJ keeper.

Pars were then put under pressure when Ross Bremner was first forced into a good save from a nice little chip from a PSJ attacker before Captain Kev led by example and dribbled round half of Parscelona's team before finally being stopped in the six-yard box by a Neil Holland tackle.

Parscelona couldn't hold out much longer however as a cross looped high over Ross Bremner's head and was tucked home with ease by an opportunistic and unmarked PSJ substitute from a yard out.

Parsca equalised shortly afterwards. A through ball from Callum Norris found Colin McKean, whose first effort was saved but when Fraser Clark recovered the ball it found its way into Colin's path again and he made sure with his second attempt.

A PSJ effort, once more resulting from a stroll up the park from Kev, was cleared off the line by Steven Maxwell and Pars bounced back to go one up. A through ball from Ross MacGregor gave Colin McKean another chance and while his effort was reached by the PSJ keeper, it was not enough to stop it going in.

PSJ pulled themselves back together and after first managing to chip just over the bar and then follow it up by hitting the bar, they equalised. Ross Bremner pulled off a good save from a 10-yard effort but the rebound was converted by another PSJ striker.

Ross went off injured slightly later to be replaced by Steven Maxwell but depsite one further effort from a tight angle Parsca managed to avoid further disaster.

Three games unbeaten!
