The game got off to a slow start as both teams struggled to get used to the incredible heat, but began to speed up with the arrival of the first goal. After 12 minutes, a through ball from Colin McKean in the midfield put Grant Cotter through on goal with just the keeper to beat. Finding himself one-on-one, Grant made no mistake in putting it under the keeper to put Pars one up.

Six minutes later, it was two. Colin McKean made a run from midfield and again laid the ball to Grant. Grant's shot was tipped onto the bar by the goalkeeper and bounced back out. After a goalmouth scrap, Ian McKean got the final shot, which was turned into the goals by a helpless Dalgety Bay defender.

Pars continued to dominate and four minutes later Ian made no mistake in notching up his first "real" goal. No deflections this time, just some fine finishing.

Only three minutes later, Ross Arnott made a good run down the wing before laying the ball to Colin McKean. Colin shot... four nil.

Not to be outdone, Ian McKean headed in his second goal of the game from a Grant Cotter pass in the dying minutes of the first half.

Parscelona started the second half with Ally Mooney moving to a defensive position, with Alan Maxwell replacing him in goals. Parscelona were tested early on with a couple of long range efforts and a string of corners, but defended adequately.

Having weathered the storm, Parscelona made it six nil twenty minutes into the second half. Stuart Holland received the ball inside the box and was given plenty of time to turn, control and fire the ball past the keeper.

Four minutes later, Dalgety Bay got the goal which they had been threatening throughout the second half. As one of their players attempted a shot from the edge of the box, Johnnie MacDougall attempted to block it. Unfortunately this left Alan in goals unsighted until it was too late.

Parscelona were to reply just two minutes later when Grant Cotter again found himself up against the goalkeeper. Seven one. This was followed by an eighth goal five minutes later when Ian McKean grabbed his hatrick.

Dalgety Bay didn't give up, and in the dying minutes managed to get another goal back as another shot from the edge of the box beat Parscelona's defence. Ross Arnott's block couldn't deflect the ball enough and despite Alan sprawling across the ground like a bad rug, the ball found its way in.

In the end 8-2 was probably a fair result, but it must be said that both teams had plenty more chances. Parscelona were the biggest culprits however as it seemed everyone in the team took turns at missing. Paul Schyma hit the crossbar; Fraser Clark fired a shot over, presumably disoriented after finding himself so far up the park; and Keith Mackie managed a miss so embarassing that he promptly announced his retirement.
