21/12/02 Fir Park Corner 4 Parscelona 3

December 21st 2002

Hamilton Palace

Parscelona took their habit of collapsing late on to new depths on a morning so cold that the afternoon's game had already been cancelled before they arrived.

Thankfully the internet Well were better prepared than their professional counterparts and this exciting game was allowed to go ahead on the Hamilton astroturf.

Parsca enjoyed a fair amount of pressure in the first half and were rewarded with the opener. Grant Cotter fired in an impressive shot from the edge of the box but saw it deflected back out to him. His second attempt was not as well hit but was enough to make its way through a crowded box and past the helpless Well keeper.

A wonderful run down the right wing from ginger freak Chris Ozog gave Parsca their second. Drifting across into the box he fired a powerful shot past the Well keeper, which rattled the crossbar before dropping into the net. Sexy.

Johnnie MacDougall almost made it three when he hit the ball off the post but, after weathering a few good chances from Motherwell, the visitors went into half time sitting two goals up.

A third was to follow in the second half. After Alex Mercer had forced the ball past the Well keeper, a defender was quick enough to batter the ball away from the goal line. Chasing it out to the left wing, Alan Maxwell stopped the ball before it could run out for a throw-in. Seeing the Well keeper still off his line, he launched the ball towards goal. His shot was woefully inaccurate but ended up being a decent cross to Alex Mercer. The Parsca veteran stuck his body out in a bizarre star-jump fashion, the ball nestled comfortably on his breast, rolled down his gut and may even have made contact with some part of his leg before trickling past the frustratingly close Well keeper.

Three nil up with twenty minutes to go, things seemed pretty comfortable for Parsca. Unfortunately the team began to get a little too comfortable.

A through ball from Well was missed by eveyone, including the striker and Keith Mackie in the Parscelona goal, and came to a stop in the net.

A second soon followed when a well hit shot deflected off Steven Maxwell and past Mackie again.

The equaliser came from a good finish after a Well striker was put through one-on-one with the keeper, and to round off the misery a good strike from the edge of the box gave FPC a 4-3 victory.

Bollocks.
