Real Maroon 2 Parscelona

April 20th 2002
Peffermill, Edinburgh
In
another closely fought tie, Maroon took a first half lead with a neat lob that
Ross Bremner managed to get a hand to but couldn't keep out.
Parsca did their best to get back on level terms and following some superb play from Ross Arnott, covering the length of the park, Grant Cotter fired just wide of the Jambo goal. Grant was denied again a short while later when straight through on goal, with the home team's keeper pulling off a great save.
Colin McKean also came close for the visitors. Starting the move himself, the ball was played via Alasdair Mercer and Ewan Campbell to Grant Cotter on the wing, whose cross found Colin in acres of space. Unfortunately nobody told Colin this and he rushed his header and put it straight at the keeper.
Grant Cotter had one final effort before half time when through at goal but once more the ball was delivered straight at the keeper.
Parscelona were lucky not to concede on a couple of occasions in the second half when a handball by Callum Norris and a blatant goal line save from Davie Sanders went unnoticed by the referee but unfortunately they did not hold out long.
Davie Sanders received a short goal kick out wide from Ross Bremner, but was soon dispossessed. The Jambo winger's luck was definitely in following this as he then managed to beat Ross to the ball and slot it across the face of goal to gift his striking partner with one of the easiest chances he's ever likely to get.
At two-nil the unbeaten streak of Parscelona looked almost certainly at an end, but a brief flurry of activity in the dying minutes saw them at least deny the Jambos a clean sheet. Callum Norris was pushed over in the box following a Parsca corner and, in the absence of the exiled Fraser Clark, Alan Maxwell stepped up to put the penalty away, albeit allowing the keeper to get a touch on it on its way in.
Colin McKean also had the ball in the net for Parscelona but unsurprisingly the referee wasn't that impressed with the fact that he'd used his hand to do so.
