Parscelona's cup dream may have been ended emphatically courtesy of a late onslaught by Celtic but for the first half the game was a lot closer than the scoreline suggested.

Johnnie MacDougall forced the keeper to tip one effort over the bar early on and when Alan Maxwell was brought down just outside the Celtic box Grant Macleod's free kick was saved.

Keith Mackie then had to be alert to make a cracking save at the feet of a Celtic striker to deny the visitors the lead. Fortune favoured Parsca shortly afterwards when Keith was beaten by a low shot from close range but the ball ran past the post.

Celtic eventually took the lead in bizarre circumstances when a cross from the right wing drifted across goal and into the back of the Parsca net.

It could have been 2-0 at half time when a goalmouth stramash saw Ali McLeod header one Celtic effort off the line, which was then deflected off Chris Ozog and fell to the feet of a Celtic attacker. His first effort was saved and he somehow managed to put the rebound over the bar from all of two yards.

Celtic did get their second early in the second half when, with the referee signalling an advantage after a Celtic player was brought down, a midfielder was allowed to waltz past three players before scoring.

Callum Norris had a shot wide for Parscelona but a better chance materialised minutes later when Callum Alexander's shot was blocked on the line and the rebound fell to Stuart Manson. Stuart snatched at his shot and sent it over the bar before delighting everyone with a tantrum that was only one step away from breakdancing.

A low ball was rifled in from close range to give Celtic their third and a fourth came shortly afterwards when Keith Mackie had made a good save but the rebound was hammered in, again from close range. The final blow was struck when a Celtic player again ran unchallenged to the edge of the box and smacked another one into the net.
