KaisAyr 6 Parscelona 2
Cambusdoon Sports Centre, Ayr

[thanks to Ayr's Peter Noble for some details]

Parscelona continued to live up to their abysmal record for matches away from home with yet another humping, this time from the lads from Ayr. In a game played with a strong wind and in freezing temperature, the only major difference between this game and the recent trip to Paisley was the presence of a substitute.

The game didn't take long to get going, with Ayr going one up in the third minute. Peter Noble latched onto a pass from Callum Yorke and found enough space to fire a shot in from just outside the six-yard box. Alan Maxwell went down too early and couldn't get enough on it to stop it sailing into the top of the net.

Ayr should have added to their tally when the Pars' keeper spilled the ball a few yards out in front of two Ayr attackers, but after a goalmouth scramble Chris Ozog eventually cleared the ball.

Pars eventually managed to counter the Ayr attacks and when the home side's defence was caught too far up the field Colin McKean fired a stunning shot over the keeper's head to net Pars the equaliser. Parscelona could have had another goal following some good play between McKean and Cammy Wilson, but Ayr's Gordon Brown managed an important goal line stop.

Pars started the second half in much the same way as the first. Colin McKean's ambitious halfway line shot was caught easily by Andrew Jackson, who sent the ball straight back up the pitch. The ball beat everyone, and Peter Noble managed to hold off Johnnie MacDougall and calmly stroke the ball past the oncoming Maxwell. Again the keeper managed a half touch, and again it made no difference. Still inside the first minute of the half, and Noble had put Ayr ahead again.

Six minutes later, Parscelona equalised again, when Colin McKean was given enough time to compose himself in the danger area and fire past Jackson.

Things started to go pear-shaped for Parscelona now, and in the 54th minute Ayr were ahead again. Peter Noble whipped in a cross, which was finished by Martin Tocker.

Less than ten minutes passed before Ayr grabbed their fourth. Ayr won a corner and when Stephen Noble put it into the box, Kerr Rowan was on the end of it.

In the 72nd minute, Ayr grabbed yet another goal. A cross completely deceived the Pars defence and when it was chipped back into the box Peter Noble rose above everyone else to head home his hat trick. Ayr continued their pressure with Andy McPhee having his angled drive punched over the bar and Peter Noble being denied his fourth by an offside decision from the assistant referee.

The game was finished by now and it came as little surprise when Ayr added a sixth goal in the last minute of play, Callum Yorke heading home from almost on the goal line.

A well deserved victory for Ayr, and Parscelona once again paying the price for having such a small travelling squad. On the positive side, we got mentioned on Ayr's tannoy and the Ayr lads got a buffet laid on for us at their pub - nice! Cheers lads.
