Finally, finally, finally we got our return leg with the mighty Par(s/c)elona and it certainly was a game of two halves. The first half was a shocker and the Erin Hibernians couldn't have played worse if they'd tried. This is not the time for excuses but we did field six new players in the team and most of us arrived late after getting stuck in roadworks. Plus I buggered my knee making the first save. And Simon Wallace didn't turn up (what a surprise ...). Also, we didn't want to get our shiny new strips dirty either. Eventually they got things together and started knocking the ball about but not before the Pars had gone 5-0 up. It was one of those games where we'd have thumped them on any other day, but credit to our hosts as they defended resiliantly and had a couple of centres-halves who did themselves credit. Hibs' goals came from debutants with the exception of Stevie Carr. Brothers Elliot and Leon Young put in some hard work and earned a goal each and Billy Scott lashed home a penalty which saw Hibs come close to getting a draw. The Pars have arranged a tie next month with the Aberdeen List and are considering a game with Raith Rovers also. We, however have a clash with AC Celtic to look forward to on April 24th. This game will be in Edinburgh and should be a cracker. Initial discussion have taken place between Erin Hibs and Parcelona regarding a Scottish Stramash Tournament prior to WorldNet '99 in July. We'll keep you posted. With teams available representing Hibs, Motherwell, Aberdeen, Rangers, Celtic, Raith Rovers and Dunfermline now, if it happens it should be quite a good laugh. Plus that leaves an extra place for an English team to come up and get abused!
